As you know, responsibility for the Disability and Inclusion Strategy now sits with the Committee for Employment & Social Security (E&SS). The Committee has decided to use a project management approach in order to progress the various workstreams. A Project Board, which oversees the direction of the project, met for the first time on 5 September 2016. The small Project Board is chaired by Ed Ashton, Head of Operations at E&SS and includes Karen Blanchford, Deputy Emilie Yerby, me and Steve Wakelin, Chief Strategy & Policy Officer for the States.
A project officer is currently identifying the various workstreams of the Strategy so that these activities can all be listed in a master project plan. This is proving to be quite a challenge, but once complete and doubled checked with the GDA Committee and other key stakeholders, it will help the Project Board to make a recommendation to the E&SS Committee on which workstreams should be prioritised. I am confident that this new project approach is a positive step forwards and I know that Ed Ashton is keen to make sure that the GDA and other key stakeholders receive regular progress reports.
