Social Policy in 2016

Jan-Mar:  As the end of the States four-year term approached, deputies passed a raft of social policies, including the Children and Young People’s Plan (CYPP), Supported Living and Ageing Well Strategy (SLAWS) and Social Welfare Benefits Investigation Committee Report (SWBIC).

Apr-Jun: Everything paused while a new States was elected.  GDA made the Disability and Inclusion Strategy an election issue.

Jun-Sep: Both deputies and civil servants had to get used to a completely new structure for the States.  The Disability and Inclusion Strategy (DIS) moved from the old Policy Council to the new Committee for Employment and Social Security.

Sep-Dec: First meetings were held for the Childrens Executive (CYPP), the SLAWS Partnership Board and the DIS [Karen to fill in].  GDA was invited to be part of the DIS Project Board.  Social Policy featured strongly in the first phase of the States Policy and Resources Plan.
