2017 has brought several changes to Guernsey DriveAbility:

  • Our new fitness to drive assessor, Maxine Armstrong is now fully on board, providing the service. When not on Guernsey she works in one of the UK accredited Driving Mobility centres, so maintains knowledge of current practise in this very specialist profession. Her dual qualification as Occupational Therapist and Driving instructor is very rare, enabling full clinical and rehabilitation understanding as well as expertise in on road assessment work.
  • Local driving instructor Ken Diamond increased his kind voluntary support to include availability as contact for enquiries for those unable to access information and application forms from our website.
  • The retired assessor, Sue Vernon offers voluntary administrative support for processing applications.
  • Recently, donations in memoriam of Margaret Dowinton, enabled us to buy a second in-car camera for the manual transmission assessment vehicle. All drives, either in our automatic or manual car can now be recorded. We are extremely grateful for this most unexpected gift. It reflects the encouragement Margaret gave us over the years not only when her husband Terry was our Chairman but thereafter as a friend.
