Disability Awareness Training
To understand more about how to make the small changes that could help individuals feel welcome at a social event, as an employee, in a restaurant or shop please take time to look at the Disability Awareness free online training https://training.disabledgo.com/. In the six modules you will learn about different types of impairments such as mobility, visual, hearing, hidden and multiple impairments. You will also find information about learning disabilities, learning difficulty, autism and dementia. The practical advice section provides information on things you can do to assist people with a sight or hearing impairment, mobility impairment, learning disability, mental health issues or an individual with dementia. The language section explains why using the correct language to describe disability is important and provides some practical tips about using disability related language in conversation.
To date 1,421 people have started the training and 985 people have completed all six modules.
