Update by Caroline Mullins, Disability Officer, States of Guernsey
Thank you for taking time to contribute to the Raising Awareness and Changing Attitudes workshop on 5 January 2018.
The workshop raised two work streams to progress:

  • A broader awareness raising campaign dealing with inclusion.
  • A more specific awareness raising campaign dealing with the provisions of Article 8.

During discussions the group identified four target audiences to focus on during the UNCRPD campaign. These are: business (including suppliers of goods and services), employers, education and young people and the media.
The outputs of the workshop were reported back to the Disability and Inclusion Strategy Project Board on the 30 January 2018. The Board agrees, in the first instance, the campaign to raise awareness of the provisions of Article 8.
The next step will be to develop a robust communications plan describing prioritisation of themes, including resource requirements and timelines for implementation.
Updates on progress will be provided through the Disability and Inclusion Strategy Highlight Reports.
It is important to involve key stakeholders at different points as work progresses and I will include you in further communications, unless you tell me that you would not like to be on the list.
Once again thank you for your contribution to date,
Caroline Mullins, Disability Officer, States of Guernsey
