On Wednesday 16th May the States of Guernsey will debate Assisted Dying. The Requête can be found on the Gov.gg website at:

https://gov.gg/article/163966/Assisted-Dying

You can provide your opinions to deputies by email all deputies2016@gov.gg if you are happy to, please cc us on info@disabilityalliance.org.gg

There are a number of groups/bodies discussing this very sensitive issue, they include:

Dignity (Pro) My Care, My Choice https://www.dignity.gg/

Care for life (against) http://careforlife.gg/

Deputy Emilie Yerby blog on Assisted Dying http://emilieyerby.com/assisted-dying/

Please send us other links and we will try to keep this up to date

There is also a lot of social media traffic on the issue if you use Facebook and Twitter.

There have been a number of public meetings:

  • 22nd March 2018 (Pro) Assisted Dying in the Bailiwick of Guernsey – slides here
  • 1st May 2018 panel debate – no slides or notes as yet (pro and against)
  • 5th May 2018 – Care for Life – see website http://careforlife.gg/
  • 10th May 2018 – Beaucamps school 7pm – Dignity

As you will be aware we no longer have an Executive Director, keeping up with the momentum of this debate is difficult for our volunteers but please do copy us in on your views as you contact deputies.

The GDA has been working on this matter since the beginning of the debate and will issue its statement shortly.
