This year GDA and its partners will be celebrating Disabled Access Day for the first time. Our focus for this 2017 campaign has been on Accessible Activities, the sports and clubs locally that are accessible to disabled islanders. We are encouraging more clubs to review their access and increase the options available for adults and children with disabilities. In Guernsey over 13,000 have a disability, their conditions and access needs are diverse so over the week leading up to Disabled Access Day the We All Matter Eh! #AccessibleActivities campaign will provide Tips for Clubs and testimonials from existing groups on who to improve accessibility in all its forms (Physical, information etc)
We All Matter Eh! (WAME) is the voice of islanders with disabilities, over the last few months Karen (GDA) and Olly Tracey (Onscreen creations) have interviewed, filmed and photographed 11 clubs and over 100 islanders to understand their views on taking part in clubs and asked the coaches about how they have adapted their sessions and become more accessible. All of these videos are shared in our Directory https://matter.gg/accessible-sports/accessible-sports-directory/ of over 20 Accessible Clubs in Guernsey

About Disabled Access Day
In 2015 Disabled Access Day began as a day to celebrate good access and created opportunities for people to try something new. The day was about highlighting the fantastic access that already exists in places, such as touch tours, relaxed performances, sensory experiences, level access and of course a warm welcome!
When is Disabled Access Day?
