As you may be aware, last year there was a review of the Committee for Health and Social Care Children’s Disability Service. Amongst other recommendations, it was proposed that the Child Development Centre and Children’s Disability Team merge to create one team for children/ young people aged 0-18 who have additional needs or disabilities. The manager for this team is Will Jones who’s previous role has been within Adult Disability Services.
This has happened and the team is now called the Child Development Service (CDS), based at Le Rondin School and Centre. The Child Development Service includes; Clinical Psychologist, Disability Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Preschool Liaison Nurse, Paediatrician, Physiotherapy, Special Needs School Nurses, Positive Behaviour Support Team and Disability Short Break Service based at The Croft. A further recommendation was that there should be a single referral process for access to these services. This has been developed and is called the Resource Allocation Panel (RAP).
The Child Development Service has developed a website which provides information about the team and an opportunity to give feedback on your experience of accessing this service.
