September 28, 2018
A very big thank you to all our members and supporters who attended our meeting on Wednesday 26th September. The key topics for discussion were the Guernsey Referendum (10th October) and the new Accessible Town project which is in partnership with Chamber of Commerce and Access for All and made up of 3 main events:
- Purple Tuesday 13th November
- #MakeAChange celebrations and awards – lunchtime awards 3rd December, in the market
- The Accessible Christmas Lights (and shopping) evening – Monday 3rd December from 5:30pm
We asked everyone to put down their ideas on:
- encourage businesses to take part in the Accessible Shopping events, how we could motivate them to get involved and to become more Disability Confident (more comfortable with language, customer service, and gaining a better understanding about access)
- encourage our members and 13,000 disabled islanders and 4,000+ carers to attend the Accessible Christmas Lights and shopping event on Monday 3rd December
- other ideas around publicity, buy in etc
We had some excellent ideas that are captured in the attached. Please do read through them and share them widely, we would love to hear of more ideas or how you can help to make these events a success.
