A media release from the Committee for Employment and Social Security heralded the next stage of brining in the new Prevention of Discrimination Ordinance. After extensive consultation the Ordinance is due to be considered by the States on 28th September 2022 following a 15 year campaign by the Guernsey Disability Alliance.
If approved the Ordinance will provide protection from discrimination for people with disabilities and their carers. In addition it will also provide protection on other grounds of race, sexual orientation and religion. Future phases are then to follow.
