New Research on SLAWS
The States have announced opportunities for islanders, including those with lived experience of community long-term care, to apply to participate in focus group sessions to be conducted independently on the States’ behalf by Island Global Research.
This is as part of the work on the Supported Living and Ageing Well Strategy (SLAWS) where the States directed that any changes to the current provisions should also look at support for Islanders cared for in their own homes as well as other models of long-term care. This work covers Alderney as well as Guernsey.

Members Meeting in November
If you would like to join a GDA meeting to discuss models for long-term care with the team leading this work there will be a meeting in November. Carol Le Page will circulate members with the date time and venue when known.
However, I would urge as many of you as possible to attend a focus group so that your personal views can be captured and help agree acceptable options and to influence the direction the model might take.
The options for a revised model of community long-term care are expected to be presented to the States in the first half of 2024.
