If you are heading to see King Charles III and Queen Camilla the States have provided some information that might help make your day go more smoothly.
The States has published Royal Visit additional information for people with access needs which pdf can be provided by clicking the button below.
10 am Onwards – Seafront
Road closure
The St Peter Port seafront will be closed from Sunday 14 July to Tuesday 16 July.
Blue badge parking
On Monday 15th and Tuesday 16th, the bus terminus is being moved to the west end of the North Beach car park, this means the blue badge parking will be moved to the middle of the North Beach car park. There will be spaces available for approximately 40 cars.
On Tuesday a number of additional blue badge parking spaces are being made available on the Albert Pier.
Toilets
The public toilet facilities on the Crown pier will be closed but the radar key accessible toilet will be available for use until 1145. People should bring their own
key to access the facility.
The accessible toilet within the Tourist information centre will not be available for the duration of the event. Other accessible toilets are available at the South Plantation (by the bus terminus) and the North Beach
Wheelchair users viewing area- Crown Pier
A space has been allocated at the west end of the Crown pier (opposite the Boat House) for wheelchair users to be able to view the visit. People will need to access this area along the closed seafront. They will be allowed through the police barrier and will need to be in position by 10:45 as the road will be closed to everyone at that time.
Drop off area- White Rock
The coach area at White Rock (between Cambridge Berth and Trident Kiosk) will be the most suitable location for people who need to be dropped off.
Viewing screens
Large screens will be set up to broadcast the events. These will be situated at either end of the seafront area which is closed to traffic.
General information – Seafront
- Activities on the St Peter Port seafront will begin at 10am before Their Majesties arrive late morning.
- The community is invited to the seafront to witness the States sitting and Ceremony of Homage, and the other activities on the seafront.
- Large screens at both ends of the seafront will also broadcast the events, and people will be able to watch online on the States of Guernsey Facebook page and www.gov.gg/royalvisit2024.
- Please take into account that it may be a hot day, and bring with you water, food, sun-cream and dress appropriately for the weather.
- While we look forward to seeing as many people as possible, in the event of extremely high numbers of people attending, it may be necessary to restrict access in order to ensure the safety of all members of the community.
- The St Peter Port seafront offers the best opportunity to see Their Majesties, when they visit Guernsey tomorrow. There are public viewing areas along the seafront from the Weighbridge roundabout to Town Church on both the sea and land side, as well as up one side of the Crown Pier, including a designated area for wheelchair users.
- While the weather looks variable, it would be a good idea to bring water with you, as you may be waiting in the same spot for some time.
- Please be aware that while we look forward to seeing lots of people on the seafront, in the event of extremely high numbers it may be necessary to restrict access to ensure the safety of all members of the community.
- If you cannot stand for long periods of time you may need to take a chair with you.
Traffic and Parking
- The St Peter Port seafront will be closed throughout Sunday 14 July (when a Seafront Sunday is taking place), Monday 15 July and Tuesday 16 July.
- As a result, there is expected to be significant congestion on Monday and Tuesday, however, to improve traffic flow, both pedestrian crossings on St Julian’s Avenue will be manually controlled during the daytime. Wherever possible on Monday, people are asked to use different routes to avoid the area.
- People are encouraged to use public transport, walk and cycle, to the seafront on Tuesday.
- On Monday and Tuesday, the Town bus terminus will temporarily relocate to North Beach. On the Tuesday, buses will be operating a Saturday service.
- The following parking restrictions will be in place:
- The Crown Pier will be closed on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday.
- The Albert Pier will be closed on Sunday, and closed from 6pm Mon to 8am Tues. On Tuesday, spaces near the entrance to the Pier will be available for cycle parking and overflow cycle parking will be available on the arm of the Pier. There will also be provision of spaces for blue badge holders.
- On Sunday, the whole of the North Beach car park will be closed but the east side of the car park will be available on the Monday and Tuesday.
- Additional motorcycle parking will be provided at South Esplanade, where the buses normally stop to pick up/drop off and in the bus holding area.
- There will also be some road closures in St Peter Port, for short periods, while Their Majesties travel to and from the seafront.
10 am – 4pm – Cambridge Park – Family Event
A large screen will be positioned on the football pitch area, adjacent to the Duke of Richmond Hotel. This will livestream the morning’s events at the seafront, and the afternoon’s event at Les Cotils.
It is expected there will be an opportunity to see Their Majesties as they drive past on their way to Les Cotils.
There will be food retailers and children’s entertainment at Cambridge Park throughout the day.
Events at this location will be weather dependant.
Accessible viewing area
There will be an area for wheelchair users and people with accessibility needs to view Their Majesties as they pass at the west end of Cambridge Park (opposite the Duke of Richmond Hotel).
Parking
Parking in the area will be limited. Some blue badge parking will be available along Cambridge Park Rd, alongside the west side of the park. Visitors are also asked to utilise spaces at the Beau Sejour centre.

General information – Cambridge Park
- Cambridge Park is hosting a family event where people are encouraged to bring picnics and blankets from 10am until 4pm. Their Majesties are expected to drive by the park in the afternoon before attending an event with Alderney and Sark delegations at Les Cotils.
- This is an opportunity for those who may of course prefer not to be on the seafront when it will be very busy, such as people who have small children, or people who prefer to avoid crowds or long periods of standing.
- There will be food retailers and children’s entertainment at Cambridge Park throughout the day, kindly supported by the St Peter Port Parish officials. This provides an opportunity for Islanders to enjoy a less crowded and more informal event to see Their Majesties.
- There will be a large screen in the park that will livestream the morning’s events at the seafront, and the afternoon’s event at Les Cotils. It is expected there will be an opportunity to see Their Majesties as they drive past on their way to Les Cotils.
- E-bike and bicycle parking will be available on the softball field at the park.
