The conference showcasted cost-effective examples of workplace management strategies to support mental wellbeing with speakers from Guernsey and the UK.
John Curran, Chair of Guernsey Mind, said “It is a significant responsibility for today’s employers to understand and mitigate the risks to employees in relation to stress and wellbeing. Such issues should be managed at an organisational level by senior managers.”
Boley Smillie, Guernsey Post chief executive, has worked closely with Guernsey Mind over the last year to pilot their mental health strategy. He told the audience how the cooperation with Guernsey Mind had a significant impact on his understanding of mental health and consequently on the solutions sought. He said: “Guernsey Post is delighted to be a participant at the inaugural Guernsey Mind Conference. It is a fantastic opportunity for us to share our own experiences while learning from recognised experts about the benefits of effectively managing mental wellbeing in the workplace.
Guernsey Mind are currently working on an e-guide to help businesses implement a mental health strategy.
